A Peek at Kempton Park

Kempton Parkor Sunbury Antiques as it's also known, is one of my favorite antique markets. It's not especially close to our neighborhood, though, so I don't get there often (it takes me about 1.5 hrs to get there by bus and train). It's twice a month, on Tuesdays from 6:30AM to about 1PM. Monday night before a market day I tell myself I will try to go (if I don't already have other plans) but unless I've arranged a sitter for the little one, time usually gets away from me in the morning and then I often feel it's too late to go. And the idea of going with a one year old is a bit daunting. She's at the squirmy age and she has no interest in looking at old junk, other than trying to put any bits and bobs in her mouth. And I'm not about to bring the buggy there with me due to lots of stairs at the train station and crowded isles at the market. But last week I got up early enough and so did little miss, so I strapped her on and we headed out and had a great time.

I was only at the market for about an hour, but that was enough time to scoop up some treasures and get an eye candy fix. I bought some of this thread on nice wooden spools for a craft garland I'm making. And I got some of these little petit four tins below to put sewing bits in.
I almost got this wool rug below for our living room, but I was indecisive. I really want to "try on" a rug to make a decision but I can't very well do that with something from the flea market, now can I? The price was very good. I should have bought it and re-sold it if it didn't work out. I'm afraid it would have had too much red in it. Very nice nonetheless.
Grain sack heaven below. I would have liked to get a pile of these with the blue and make some new curtains for our bedroom. I made some curtains with burlap, but I'd prefer grain sack cloth. A grain sack cloth bedskirt is something else I'd like to make.
Some stalls just have stuff piled on a table (which is fine by me) while some other stalls are styled nicely like little shops, one of those nicely styled stalls was Frou-Frou. She had some really beautiful vintage linens and haberdashery bits. It was the prettiest stall I saw last week in my brief visit. I felt giddy with excitement while I was at the market and I can't wait to go again!

Oooh, what a lovely market! Drooool!!! I have to confess that flea and antique markets are but one of my addictions alongside auctions and old paint! I'm so happy I found your blog. You certainly have a new follower now. I'd love for you to drop by my blog sometime to see what we do!
