A Merry and Bright Home Tour

I'm very excited that my most recent article for Mollie Makes is now out in the Christmas issue! It is a home tour on Jasna Janekovic's adorable, colorful apartment.

Falling into Winter

We had a great time in San Francisco, and time does fly when you're having fun! We went to some of our favorite places--parks, restaurants, etc. and discovered a few new spots. We also had a great time seeing some of our friends there. After San Francisco we headed to Baltimore to spend Thanksgiving there with my husband's family. It was great to spend time with family there. I took this photo above when we went to the playground to take the kids. There was a nature trail right next to the playground, and it was a beautiful day. It was a good time to stop and take in the scenery. Now we're in Atlanta and will be here through Christmas. I'm so excited to be here. My mom and I have been planning some fun crafts to make. We started with some snow globes today. They didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped, but I'm happy we gave it a go. I've also made a list of some recipes to make. Here's to the holidays!

Greetings from San Francisco!

This week we're in San Francisco! We'll be here for a week, then we head to the east coast to spend the holidays with family. I meant to mention it before leaving but didn't get to it with all the other things I needed to do before we left. I'm so excited to be here! We got here on Saturday and have already gone to a number of places we love and miss. Here are a few snapshots of what we've been up to. From left to right... Tartine's bread pudding, the best!; a fun open air tram we were lucky to ride on; flowers at Bi-Rite market; the menu at Emmy's Spaghetti Shack (the best spaghetti and meatballs!); lil' miss kicking back, wearing my shades in Dolores Park; Lo's hot chocolate and lavender marshmallow at Craftsman and Wolves (the hot chocolate promptly covered her dress shortly after this photo); a sunrise photo in Dolores Park (we're a little jet lagged), tasty goodness at Craftsman and Wolves; a photo of Mission High School with birds. More to come soon from San Francisco!

Doll Making

I've been meaning to make Lois a doll now for, oh, about 4 years. I've had this weird anxiety about her turning 4, sort of a panic really. I remember when she was 1, thinking, I can't wait till she's 4 or 5! I felt like the age between 1 and 2 was really hard. Now, I can't believe how fast time has gone by and that she's already 4. I've had so many things in mind that I wanted to make for her while she was little, including clothes (and I've only made 2 simple dresses so far in her life). When I look at her she looks like such a big girl, and before I know it, she's not going to be interested in anything I make for her. So finally I've made her a doll!

Festive Eats

I love Halloween, but it's not that big of a deal here in the UK compared to the US. But we still celebrated and had a lot of fun. Lois dressed up as a witch and we went to a small Halloween party and did some trick-or-treating. We also made some festive food. One of my pin boards is "recipes and pretty food." Mostly I've just pinned those because they're mouth-watering eye candy. But sometimes I actually make the recipes I pin. Two that we tried were pumpkin spice pancakes, which I read about on Alicia Paulson's beautiful blog, and then some gingersnaps. I have some cute cookie cutters in the shape of cats, owls, and bats, which I tried to use for the pancakes, which was, er... a bad idea. Didn't work. They actually didn't work well for the gingersnaps either, so I went with round snaps.
