And Speaking of Decorating a Child's Room...

So finally, here's a peek into Ellie's room! First, I should say that I was going for a softer, lighter look than Lois's room. Her room as always had bold, primary sorts of colors. You can see her room here. That was her room in our first place in London, so it's not her current room, but she has all the same items but in a different configuration. Also, for Ellie's room, since I was working with little to start with, I decided to consult Pinterest (of course!).

In Love with Laku

Whenever I go into Laku, I feel like I've been transported into a candy colored, carnival dream. I love Laku. It's one of my favorite San Francisco shops. When my mom and I go into the shop together, we oooo and ahhh over everything from the way it's decorated to what Yaeko, the owner, has made and is making right there at her sewing machine in the shop. If Andrew and I had a little one, she would be spoiled with Laku goodies. Yaeko makes the cutest party hats and stuffed animals. As you can see, this is a magical place.

Lolo's Room

Lois's room is finished! It's been pretty much finished for months, but I wanted to make something to cover the dark fireplace and finally did that this week. I also wanted to finish her bunting. Both are done so welcome to Lois's room! If you saw her room in San Francisco or saw pictures on my blog, it's basically the same, mostly all the same stuff anyway, but I hung things in a different arrangement and she has some different curtains now. Almost everything in her room is either from Ikea, a flea market, or a thrift store. Here's the tour...

Daybed from Ikea and lots of pillows. One can never have too many pillows! At least I can't.

Some of the pillows are store bought, but a few are handmade. My aunt made this red ruffle pillow that I love. 

This bird and tulip pillow came from a thrift store and I made the patchwork pillow behind it from one of Alicia Paulson's patterns. 

Little doll named Lois came from the Alemany flea market in San Francisco. 

Stripes here is from Laku, one of my favorite San Francisco shops.

The wheels on the bus go round and round! Bus painting my Mose Tolliver. One time when I was in, I dunno, maybe middle school, I painted over one of his watermelon paintings--eek! I guess I just thought I could improve it. Woops.

Vintage Child Life magazines. Lisa gave these to me. I love them (just look!) and wish I could win bids on them on ebay, but I never do. The magazine holder is from Anthropologie. 

Bunting! I made this bunting with her name on it this week. This is above her crib (which is from Ikea). My mom found the apron in an antique store. The dress on the far left is from Vintage Touch on etsy and the one on the right is from a shop in Atlanta, but I can't think of the store right now!

Curtains and her dresser (the top of it anyway). My aunt made the floral curtain, but I can't remember the name of the fabric right now. It's an older Amy Butler fabric. I think it's from her Gypsy Caravan collection. I made the yellow gingham panels to go underneath.

My solution to a very dark red brick and black fireplace. It's actually very pretty under the curtain, but it just didn't go with the room. The curtain isn't perfect by any means, and I couldn't find a pole to fit close enough to the top, so I should have made a wider hem at the top to let it ruffle out, but this is at least better than before!

Peek-A-Boo In The Baby Room

The baby room isn't totally ready for pictures yet, but here's a peek. Above is the Humpty Dumpty lamp I got on Sunday along with the ABC blocks I got while we were in Portland.

It took a while to figure out what to do above the crib. Since we're in prime earthquake country, I didn't what to hang anything heavy or even something fairly light like a shelf with little things on it for fear that it would fall off and hurt the baby. So I decided to hang some clothing above her crib that we'll secure to the wall. The birdy onesie came from Old Navy, my mom gave me the kitty apron which came from the flea market near her house (I love the apron!), and the cherry outfit came from a vendor who was selling vintage clothes at the Inman Park festival in Atlanta.

And here's my card rack turned book rack. I need to fill it up quite a bit more, but it's a start.

I had been eyeing the puddy tats at Laku for weeks now, and I finally got one! I really just couldn't decide which one to get. It's so cute--red and hot pink striped. And the tail is adorable. It has a little bell in it. Little kitty lives on the daybed with all the other stuffies and pillows.

Laku Take Two

Since Laku is right near our place, and I love it so much, I go in about once a month just to browse and be inspired by all of Yaeko's creations. Every once in a while I splurge and get something cute for Lois. Yaeko does the most creative things with repurposed sweaters. I love everything she makes! I'm working on a few sweater crafts of my own that I'll show you soon, but hers are tops to me. Here are some pictures from my visit last week. You can read my initial little review of Laku here.
